Bikes, Birds, and Beaches
Vietnam was amazing in so many ways, and if I had to pick the most heartwarming of all, it would be the kids. For me, a former elementary school principal, connecting with the joyful children was one of the most rewarding parts of the trip. When you ride a bike through a village, kids come running to shout, "Hello!" and if they have studied more English, "What's your name?" When I would reply, "My name is Wendy," they would laugh with delight, "Wendy!" They loved seeing their images reflected back to them from my digital camera. And I loved meeting them!
